Nancy L. Lestitian
Age 82, passed peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022, of Whitehall (formerly of Carrick), beloved wife of 61 years to Bill.
Nancy was a strong-willed and independent woman of faith. In 1960, when Bill (her future husband) pulled up alongside of her on Brownsville Road and asked her if she wanted to go for a ride, she replied, "No, but would you like to go for a walk?" Bill parked his car, and thus began a nearly 62-year romance.
Nancy was a caring and loving partner, spouse, and wife to Bill. While she was more comfortable behind the scenes, she was the rock upon which they built their family and their family business, Providence Cabinet Company.
A few things to know about Nancy: She loved Bill, their kids, and family. She sacrificed for her kids' educations, believing that education was the key to bettering themselves and the world. An incredibly spiritual woman, Nancy believed in a God who is merciful, loving and forgiving, and she believed that with death, she will have a new life. She knew her share of illness, of loss and struggles. She fought for the underdog. She was an example of how to be a great person, a loving spouse, a great mum, a Christian, and a friend. Nancy was also humble. She did not seek fancy things, but she appreciated beauty. She loved the history of her family, depression-era glass made on the South Side, and her flower gardens. An avid reader, she would memorize the names of each flower and the correct balance of sun, shade, and water. Nancy worked to find balance. The last thing Nancy said to Bill, "Give me a kiss." And with this, Nancy leaves us to care for and to love each other, and to remember her, a life well-lived.
Nancy was mother of Billy (Debbie), Theresa (Kevin) White and John (JR); proud grandmother of Amanda, Victoria, Abigail, Chloe, Madeleine and Ryan. Great Grandmother of Zane, Azariah and Heidi; sister of the late Norma McDonald and special friend of the family, Kathy Provident.
