Margaret (Margie) T. McGurk
Age 94, formerly of Swissvale, passed away peacefully at her home in Carrick on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Born April 4, 1927 in Rush Run, Ohio, Margie was the 8th of 12 children of John and Elizabeth Jadlocki. Preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Michael W. McGurk, Sr., and siblings John (1), Stephen (1), John (2), Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary, Andrew and Stephen (2). Survived by sisters Julia Santella and Gloria Aaron Luna, brother Robert (Mary Jane) Jadlocki, daughter Kathleen McGurk Werkstein (Nester) of Carrick, sons Michael W. McGurk, Jr. (Cecilia) of Palmyra, VA, and Brian McGurk (Mary) of Montpelier, VA; Grandmother of Heather Dietz of Brookline, Caitlin (Ronald) Irvin of Alexandria, VA, Finnian (Connie) McGurk of Crozet, VA, Claire (Sean) Chandler of Charlottesville, VA, Hugh McGurk of Palmyra, VA, Martin McGurk of Bristow, VA, Brendan McGurk of Alexandria, VA, and Elizabeth McGurk (Matthew Fox) of Washington, DC, Heather Shoup (Joshua Shapiro), Derek Werkstein and Amanda (Aaron) Varga; and 8 great-grandchildren: Ashley Dietz (Mitchell Pohl), Finnian McGurk, Moira Irvin, Maeve Chandler, Natalie Irvin, Elijah and Emelia Varga, Rayna Shoup; and expected great-great-grandson, Archer. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Margie, a licensed practical nurse, retired from West Penn Hospital burn unit to Palm Coast, FL, in 1984. Margie was an active member of the Blessed Trinity Parish Christian Mothers and Women’s Guild, Sunset Hills Women’s Bowling League, Daughters of Erin Court 9, Carrick-Brentwood American Legion Auxiliary Unit 725 and AARP Pittsburgh-Whitehall Chapter 2050. Margie was the embodiment of compassion and generosity. She was devoted to her family who loved her beyond measure. She will be deeply missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Basil Church on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Please meet in church.
