Joseph L. Ruffing, Sr. 

Age 98, at home with his whole family by his side, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, of Bethel Park, formerly of Carrick. Loving husband for 68 years to the late Thelma C. (Meihl) Ruffing. Devoted father of Joseph L. Ruffing, Jr., Cheryl Purpura, Nancy (Neil) Lauer, Karen (Rick) Gaydos, Kathy (late Bob) Kruczynski, and the late Janice (late David) Greer. Grandfather of Michael, Stephen, Lisa, Mark, Jeffrey, Daniel, Beth Ann Judy, and Andrew Purpura, Sandra, Cynthia Romano, Christine, Kathryn Hoover, Joseph, Matthew, and Joseph Lauer, David Jr., Aimee Coleman, and Thomas Greer, Kevin and the late Mark Gaydos, and Sara Kruczynski. Also survived by 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Son of the late George and Mary (Kiefer) Ruffing. Brother of Helen (late William) Paulick, and the late Charles (Betty), Marie (John) Donaldson, Ralph (Helen), Clara (Richard) Andrulonis, Regis (Loretta), George (Frances), Walter (Lois), Rosemary (Robert) Burry, James (Margaret), John "Jack" Ruffing, and Eileen (James) Wilson. Visitations Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Boron Funeral Home, Inc., 1719 Brownsville Road. Please meet in Resurrection Parish at St. Thomas More Church in Bethel Park on Wednesday at 10 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Joe was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America since 1951, a World War II Army Veteran, Member of the American Legion, and a retired University of Pittsburgh Carpenter Foreman. The family requests that all visitors please wear face masks while in attendance.
