Gregory A. Roup
On May 29th, Greg Roup (74) passed away. Greg grew up in Penn Hills, raised his children in Brookline, and retired to Cape Coral, FL. As a husband of 53 Years, there were many emotional hills and valleys, but the love shared was always visible. Theirs was a love story that spanned half a century. As a father, he taught his children many life lessons. All of his children knew how to change a tire and check the fluid in the engine, even though he was not always a patient enough person to be the one to teach them to drive. He taught them all to fix things, as well as knowing that there are things that can’t always be fixed. They all learned how to play poker (and other games) and he NEVER let them win. Dinner was always eaten together, at the dining room table and that’s where “discussions” took place. He was the Arguer in Chief. As a grandfather, his only job was to love them and boy did he know how to do that. His grandchildren were his world. He will be missed, perhaps most by his “daughter” Jo Jo, shown in the picture.
Although his survivors will say good-bye, his parents and daughter have been patiently waiting for him. Husband of Sandy (Ritter) Roup, father of Nikki (Roup) Miller, Kimberly (Roup) Meyer (Mike), Gregory Roup II (Kristi), and Tracy Roup (deceased), grandfather of Tristan Roup, Amanda Miller, Lilee Roup, and Piper Leigh Meyer, and brother of Paul Roup (Lenora).
