IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William B
Bukowski
October 30, 2022
William Bronislaw Bukowski &
Age 75, passed on Sunday, October 30, 2022, formerly of Carrick. Devoted Husband of the late Cecelia (Jaworski) Bukowski. Loving Father of Kevin Bukowski and Teresa (Lewis) Campbell. Son of Bronislaw and Margaret (Bailey) Bukowski. Enthusiastic Grandfather of Adam Bukowski and Emily Campbell. Brother of Robert Bukowski. He dedicated his life to providing for his friends and family. William, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, enlisted in 1967, and was sent to Vietnam where he served on Ben Hoa Airbase throughout 1968. His Air Force service as a baker in Vietnam and England ignited a lifelong passion for cooking. He started at Sodini's in Squirrel Hill and regularly assisted in catering many functions at the nearby Beth Shalom Synagogue for over 25 years. Bill spent over twenty years working at the Tic Toc and other restaurants at the top of the Kaufmann Building downtown. He was a member of his beloved St Basil's Parish since 1972, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and active community member. He ran the refreshment stand at St. Basil's Homecoming Festival for more than twenty-five years. In his spare time, he and his wife, Cecelia, would cater anything from small family dinners to large banquets, many times out of his own pocket, just for the joy of cooking. An active member of the local Boy Scout troop, 224, he helped with their Lenten fish dinner held in the hall below St. Basil's church for 23 years and assisted with their scout trips, well after his son was no longer a member of the troop. He was a member of both the American Legion and the Polish National Alliance for most of his life. An avid camper, every spring and summer were filled with family excursions to campgrounds. As a huge fan of music, Bill's record collection was in the thousands, the Bukowski household was routinely filled with the sounds of Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, Bobbie Vinton, Quincy Jones, Chuck Berry, 101 Strings, and Bill's favorite, Henry Mancini. Utterly devoted to his wife, when Cecelia's Alzheimer's made living in their home in Carrick problematic, they moved, in 2018, to an assisted living facility in McKee's Rocks. There they were able to live together in the same room until she passed in 2021. In early 2022, he moved to Hermitage, PA to be closer to his son. Recovering in a rehabilitation facility after a hospital stay over the summer, Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of Sunday, 30 Oct. Visitations Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Boron Funeral Home, Inc., 1719 Brownsville Road. Funeral Prayers on Thursday at 10 AM.
