Susan C. (Pfeil) Collins
On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Susan departed this life peacefully with her only daughter, Heather, by her side. Wife of 55 years to Ed Collins. Daughter of the late Edward and Sue Pfeil. Susan devotedly cared for her father, Ed ("Pappy"), for several years until his passing in 2012. Cherished mother to Heather (Scott) Henry (née Collins) and most loving grandmother to Emerson and Reilly Henry.
Susan attended Robert Morris Junior College and worked as a secretary for H.K. Porter Co. and PNC Bank. She held a lifelong love of reading, collecting hundreds of books over the years. A true dog lover, she shared her home with many loyal companions, including Missy, Magee, Barley, and Rocky.
A generous soul, Susan supported numerous charities and devoted her time to Meals on Wheels and Animal Friends of Pittsburgh, where she rescued two dogs. She cherished her exceptional friendships spanning many decades, especially with Judy Lutz and Mary Ann Forkin, and hoped they would fondly remember their vacations, lunches, Scrabble games, and coffee dates.
Susan's message to everyone is simple yet profound: Be kind. "Everyone you meet is fighting a great battle, and your act of kindness can help them through it."
A celebration of life with will be taking place at Georgetown Centre at 526 E. Bruceton Road, Pittsburgh 15236 from noon to 3pm on Sunday, October 13, 2024. &Friends and family are welcome to join for coffee, food and to share your memories of Susan.
