Obituary

Ruth E. Renkin, aged 63, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ruth, born on March 13, 1961, to the late Daniel and Rose (Hurm) Swickline, lived a life marked by devotion to her family, a passion for education, and a love for the simple pleasures of nature.
Ruth's journey began in Pittsburgh, where she grew up surrounded by a close-knit family. She was a cherished sister to John Swickline, Jean (Tom) Fico, Donny (Cheryl) Swickline, David (Dar) Swickline, and Gail (Rich) Tarr. Her early life in this vibrant community laid the foundation for the compassionate and spirited woman she would become.
In her adult life, Ruth found her soulmate in Russell Renkin, becoming his beloved wife and partner in all of life's adventures. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Ruth's world. She was the loving mother to Rikki (Josh) Robey, Kelsey (Steve) McLuckie, Logan Renkin, and Becky (Aaron) Locke. Ruth's role as a grandmother was one, she cherished deeply, and she showered love and wisdom on her grandchildren Kameron, Reagan, Ryan, Kolton, Nora, and Olive. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of kindness, laughter, and resilience.
Professionally, Ruth dedicated many years as a paraprofessional for the Pittsburgh Public Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Her commitment to supporting the growth and development of young minds was a testament to her belief in the potential of every child. Ruth's colleagues will remember her as a steadfast and caring presence, always ready with a word of encouragement or a helping hand.
Beyond her work, Ruth was a woman of many interests and talents. An avid golfer, she found joy in the challenges and camaraderie of the game. Her love for the outdoors extended to camping and spending time by the river, where she appreciated the serenity and beauty of nature. The beach held a special place in Ruth's heart as a destination for family gatherings and moments of reflection.
Ruth's impact on her community was profound and multifaceted. She lived her life with an open heart, engaging with her passions and the people around her with genuine enthusiasm and generosity. Friends and family will fondly recall her warm smile, her infectious laugh, and the way she could make even the smallest moments feel significant.
But above all, Ruth's greatest love was her family, and especially her grandchildren. She infused their lives with boundless affection, and her teachings and spirit will continue to guide them. Her presence was a gift, and the memories created with her will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Ruth E. Renkin's life was one of purpose, joy, and love. As we say goodbye, we also celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Her spirit remains a beacon of light for her family, friends, and all the lives she touched. Ruth's story does not end with her passing; it lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the stories shared among siblings, and the love that she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.&
