IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard "Rocky"
Franciscus
December 27, 2024
Richard "Rocky" Franciscus
&
We sadly announce the passing of Richard "Rocky" Franciscus, age 66, on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was born, raised and lived in Carrick most of his life. He was the son of the late Jack (Biscuits) Franciscus and the late Mary (Toots) Franciscus. He was survived by his longtime companion Jan Hicks, his children Ryan (Ashley), Taylor and stepdaughter Heather (Chris) Kuhn, brother of John "Jay" (Georgia) Franciscus, Margaret "Peggy" Di Dolce, and Susan (Brian) Meador, also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.
Rocky was a Carrick staple; he knew everyone, and everyone knew him. He always took time to say hi and then share stories as he had a gift for gab, and you never walked away without a few laughs and a strong handshake…. a few hours later. His heart was as big as he was.
His first love was baseball from Little League, Pony League, Colt League, St Basil's High School, American Legion and his team, the Carrick Lancers in the McKeesport Daily News League. All being coached by his father Jack and the late Skippy Westphal. If he was not on the many baseball fields surrounding Pittsburgh, he was at Cool Springs batting cage hitting every pitch.
He was self-employed, first as a (bobtailer) delivering Barsotti's bread and Balcer's bake goods to various restaurants and corner stores. Later he was the proud owner of "The Hound of Basketville" selling baskets and vases to flower shops and funeral homes all over Western PA. As his son Ryan stated he could sell anything out of the back of a truck!
Rocky was always willing to share or argue his views and beliefs about his favorite political candidates. If you followed him on FB you know.
He also had a passion for trivia and participated in any trivia contest that crossed his path. His memory was incredible and, Rock, our memory of you will be the same.
