Richard "Melvin" Benedik
Age 91, on Monday February 27, 2017 of Carrick. Husband of the late Gertrude Benedik. Father of Bruce (Kathy) Benedik. Grandfather of Bernice (John) Galinac and Karen (Stephen) Spang. Great Grandfather of Matthew Galinac, Madelynn Spang, Patrick Galinac, Samantha Spang, Nathaniel Spang. Son of the late Magdeline and Martin Benedik. Brother of Joan Gallagher and the late Regis Benedik, Robert Benedik, Charles Staab, Gerard Benedik, Vivian Pepka, Lorraine Liss, and Eugene Benedik. Richard retired from Giant Eagle warehouse and was a WWII veteran serving with the 343rd Combat Engineers, he sang with the Teutonia Choir, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a lover of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Visitations Thursday 9-10:15 AM at the Boron Funeral Home, Inc., 1719 Brownsville Road. Funeral Prayers at 10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Parish at St. Basil Church at 10:30 AM. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Apostles Parish at St. Basil Church, 3198 Schieck Street, Pittsburgh PA 15227.
