Obituary

JOHN REICH SR.

On October 13, 2021, John's big kind heart took its' last beat and he began his next chapter with our Lord.

His first chapter began 91 years ago on December 11, 1929, when he was born on Billy Buck Hill to his proud parents, Joseph and Anna (Diethorn) Reich.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Marion (Ehrlich) Reich, and together they built their house in Carrick and raised 7 adoring children, instilling in them 2 principal values: love of family and a strong work ethic: Marianne (John) Conley, Linda (the late Edward) Sturm, Joseph Reich, Laura (Joseph) Chiarelli, James (Lynda) Reich and Thomas Reich, and the late John (Susan) Reich.

He was a proud grandfather to his 13 grandchildren: Marianne Barnhart, Kathleen (Ben) Schmidt, Patrick Conley, Timothy (Michelle) Sturm, Anthony (Lisa) Chiarelli, Kristine Chiarelli, Joseph (Stephanie) Chiarelli, Jennifer (Logan Carter) Chiarelli, Daniel (Francesca) Chiarelli, James (Caitlin Dempsey) Reich, Matthew (Tiffany) Reich, Nicolas Reich, and Luke (Michaela Monteiro) Reich. He was a proud G-pap to his 14 great grandchildren and will be fondly remembered by his many loving nieces and nephews and cousins.

John led a very active life. Despite working full time all his adult life as a painting contractor (Reich Painting) which was eventually carried on by his son John Jr., he always had time for other activities, mostly involving his wife and children, including Cub Scouts (Pack 224) and as a Carrick Little League coach. He enjoyed umpiring little league and adult softball games and his wife accompanied him to almost all of the games. While other fans rooted for one team or the other, his biggest fan-his wife- was cheering for the umpire.

John thoroughly enjoyed his Saturday night bowling league,

and his Monday night bocce games at SHIC, both of which he made lifelong friends.

John was a very active member of St. Basil Church where he was a member of the PTG, Parish Council, a longtime usher and a eucharistic minister. Because of all the volunteer work they did at St Basil's Church, in 2009 John and Marion were awarded the 'Manifesting the Kingdom' award.

In their later years, John and Marion enjoyed many adventures together, including several trips to Las Vegas, many casino bus trips, and 28 cruises, their favorites being Hawaii and Alaska.

John is survived by his brother Donald (Joanne) Reich and predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Gilbert Reich and his sisters Rita (Warren) Snyder and Vera Reich.
