IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Caroline
Pool
July 26, 1925 – August 4, 2020
Jane Caroline Pool, age 95, passed away on August 4, 2020.& Jane was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1925. She grew up on Hampton Street in Pittsburgh's Highland Park neighborhood near St. Andrew's Episcopal Church – places that always held a special place in her heart. She was a graduate of Penn State University where she studied journalism and the University of Pittsburgh where she received a master's degree in library science. She retired after a long career with the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Before moving to Asbury Heights in Mt. Lebanon, Jane lived in Oakland for many years and then moved to Lighthouse Pointe in O'Hara Township where she enjoyed life to the fullest. Jane had a wonderful laugh which she was quick to share and was a giver of thoughtful and beautifully wrapped presents. An avid reader, a faithful correspondent, and the keeper of the Pool and Spruance family histories, Jane was a woman of spirit, independence, intellectual curiosity, optimism, and faith. She was adored by her family and friends and will be sadly missed. Jane was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Robinson Pool, Jr. and Evelyn Spruance Pool. Left to cherish her memory are her brothers Frank Robinson Pool (wife, Priscilla) and Henry Spruance Pool (wife, Linda), sister-in-law Alexandra Pool, nieces and nephews Hugh Pool, Meta Pool Phillips, Susan Pool Boswell, Jenny Pool McKay, Julie Pool Clayton, Heather Pool, Russell Pool, Jefferson Pool, Wendy Rea and Ginny Roberts, and all of their families, including Jane's numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her brothers Stewart Newell Pool and William Sterling Pool, her nephew Stewart Pool, Jr., and her niece Laura Pool Huber. Jane was a devoted member of Church of the Ascension where she faithfully served the Altar Guild for many years. She leaves behind a church family that loved her and will miss her. A service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Readshaw Funeral Home, 1503 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. Donations in Jane's memory may be made to Church of the Ascension, Altar Guild, 4729 Ellsworth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
