IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gertrude J.
Mcgonigle
September 1, 1931 – February 14, 2026
Gertrude J. McGonigle - September 1, 1931 - February 14, 2026
Gertrude Josephine McGonigle, born September 1, 1931, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Arnold H. McGonigle and Josephine (Bonuito) McGonigle.
Formerly of Carrick, she was the loving sister of Susan (Joseph) Crouse; Arnold H. (Charlotte) McGonigle; John J. (Antoinette) McGonigle; and Michael P. (Cher) McGonigle. She was preceded in death by her sister Theresa Baurle; her infant brother Patrick McGonigle; her infant sisters Susanna McGonigle and Baby Girl McGonigle and other cherished family members who welcomed her home.
Gertrude was a devout Catholic whose faith guided every aspect of her life. She lived her beliefs through loyalty, generosity, and a steadfast devotion to her family and friends. Her love and dedication were constants in the lives of those who knew her.
She cherished her Irish heritage - its music, traditions, and joyful spirit - while also embracing her Italian roots. One of her favorite adventures was traveling to Ireland, where she delighted in the warmth of the people, the lively music, and the festive Irish culture. She also loved the energy of the Pittsburgh Irish festivals and treasured the blessing she received from a visiting priest from Ireland, a moment that brought her great joy.
She loved movies and music. Gert had the unforgettable thrill of meeting Andrea Bocelli while celebrating her 75th birthday at Walt Disney World. She was also determined to meet her favorite character Goofy - and finally captured a cherished photo with him.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom will remember her with love, laughter, and gratitude for the countless ways she enriched their lives.
Gertrude's life was a celebration of faith, family, heritage, music, and joy. Her generosity, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew her.
