G. Daniel "Dan" Carney&

Age 87, on Sunday, August 18, 2024, after a brief illness. Dan was born in Carrick to the late Catherine (Sprung) and Gilbert A. Carney. He attended St. Basil School through high school, then John Carroll University and law school at Northwestern University. After law school, he served in the US Army's Judge Advocate General Corps at Presidio, CA and in South Korea, achieving the rank of Captain. He joined the law firm of Thorp, Reed, & Armstrong, now Clark Hill, as a litigation partner in 1966 and remained at the firm for his entire career. Dan served as Thorp Reed's Litigation Department Chairman for a time and was involved with numerous organizations including the Bar Associations of Allegheny County and Pennsylvania, St. Paul of the Cross Monastery, Seton La-Salle High School, and Mt. Lebanon Municipality's Civil Service Board.Dan leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Peggy (Fry) Carney; his children Christopher (Ashly) Carney, Megan (Jim) Gilson, and Kevin (Beth Parisi) Carney; and Grandsons, Keller Gilson and August Carney. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Dominick Centurioni and Michael (Donna) Fry, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Carney Centurioni and brother-in-law, John Fry. Visitations Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Boron Funeral Home, Inc. , 1719 Brownsville Road. Please meet in St. Paul of the Cross Monastery on Friday at 10:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul of the Cross Monastery and Retreat Center, The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, or your charity of choice.
