Frederick W. Weis, Jr., born on September 26, 1948, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. Fred was the loving husband of Dolores (Dolly) Barela Weis for 54 years; a devoted father to Michelle Sommer and Stephen (Nikky) Weis; brother of the late Marilyn (Joseph) Holzer, Susan (David) Kulick, and David Weis; grandfather of Samantha and Zachary Sommer and Brendan and Evelyn Weis; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Frederick W. Weis Sr. and Audrey (Moran) Weis.

A lifelong resident of Carrick, Fred served in the U.S. Air Force. He spent the entirety of his career working for Sopko Contracting as a foreman and site supervisor. Fred was an exceptional handyman, a lover of golf, and a generous friend and neighbor. He was known for his positive outlook and upbeat personality, always ready to share a good joke and a laugh. You could often find him sitting on his front porch swing or spending time with his four grandchildren. Fred's presence will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Friends and family will be received at BORON FUNERAL HOME, 1719 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15210, on Thursday, December 18, from 2–8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Basil Church, 1735 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15210, on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
