Obituary

Destin Marcez Badeau
Age 14, died suddenly on July 9, 2016 in a drowning accident while at a cookout for family and friends on a lake in Butler County. Destin was the only child and much-loved son of Patrice Jones and George Badeau of Pittsburgh. Although the day had a tragic ending, his parents are comforted knowing that on his final day on earth he was having the time of his life - living every moment to the fullest.

Destin had just completed 7th grade at South Brook Middle School where he was an honor roll student who received excellent grades on his report card. Teachers enjoyed his cheerful disposition and helpful nature. One of his teachers described him as "one of the most polite, kind, & hard-working students that I had the honor to teach." Destin had many, many friends at school, in the community and in his neighborhood.

Destin was a happy child who always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed many sports and had played baseball and football for local youth leagues. He had also learned swimming, karate and boxing. When not engaging in physical sports, he especially liked video games, particularly Final Fantasy and NBA 2K16.

Destin loved spending time with both parents. He enjoyed working with his hands and joined his father on many projects around the house as well as coming to work with him at Jeff Wokutch Auto Body in Millville on "bring-your-son-to-work-day." Destin had just obtained his working papers and was preparing to work with his dad over the summer. He wrestled and laughed often with his mother, but he also had deep conversations with her about current events in the world and his faith in God.

Destin loved helping people and wanted to make life better for people who were suffering from violence, loneliness or other challenges in life. He also had a great love for animals and his two favorite pets were his cat Miracle and his hamster Heaven.

In addition to his parents, Destin is survived by grandparents Hector and Sue Badeau of Philadelphia, Mary Jean Pineda and great-grandmother Lucy Pineda of Los Lunas, NM. He is also survived by maternal uncles and aunts Mark, Charles, Jerome, Lawrence, Tamara, Viola and Vanessa Jones of Pittsburgh and paternal uncles and aunts JD, Fisher and Lilly Jones, Renee, Tricia, David, Abel, Jose, Isaac, Chelsea, Raj, Joelle, Geeta, Todd, Alysia and Aaron Badeau, SueAnn Vargas, Florinda Clark and their spouses of Philadelphia, Vermont, North Carolina and Switzerland and numerous cousins, three of whom - Devon Jones, Curtis Gray and Eric Cutler - were like brothers to him. Destin was pre-deceased by his grandparents Betty and Charles Purter, his great-aunt Barbara Turner, his great grandparents Helen Jones of Pittsburgh, James and Marie Hoag and Philorum and Delvina Badeau of Barre, VT and Joseph Pineda of Utah and four uncles, James Jones of Pittsburgh, and Adam, Dylan and Wayne Badeau of Philadelphia.
