Alexander R. "Al" Drevitch
Age 91, peacefully at home on Sunday, December 18, 2016, of Carrick. Husband of Rosemary (Vogel) Drevitch for 66 years. Loving Dad of Charles (Teresa) Drevitch, Sherry Schirripa, and the late Lawrence, Mickey (Marta) and John (Patricia) Drevitch. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Visitations Tuesday 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Boron Funeral Home, Inc., 1719 Brownsville Road. Funeral Prayers on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Parish at St. Basil Church at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anova Hospice, 17 McKean Avenue, Suite 1, Charleroi, PA 15022 or Holy Apostles Parish, 3198 Schieck Street, Pittsburgh PA 15227. Alexander served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 as a Radioman 3rd Class serving on an LST in the Pacific Fleet. While serving, he earned a Pacific Theater Ribbon (1 star), American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon (1 star). He returned from the service in 1946, married Rosemary Vogel in 1950, and had 5 children. Al was very active in various youth leagues in Carrick. He donated many hours of his time by doing volunteer work at St. Basil's School and Church. Al worked for 39 years for J & L Steel and was retired for 35 years.
